Sometimes, it’s good to just get together with your mates, isn’t it? Blokes doing blokey things. Momentum is Surrey Chapel’s men’s group which does exactly that – provides opportunities for men to meet and do some great stuff together. We think that this also provides a way of getting to know people in the church and if you’re new or just looking, you can find out about Christians by meeting socially.
We plan to do something together each month – and that can range from Pitch & Putt, getting together to watch sport, wine tasting, car treasure hunts or just a simple evening in the pub. When we get the chance, we tackle a DIY job together for someone who needs some help with that sort of thing – it’s far quicker and you get more laughs doing it in a group with your friends. Sometimes, we even stretch our ‘Men-Only’ rule and join with Active8, Surrey Chapel’s women’s group to run joint events like Quiz ‘n’ Chips nights or a meal together.
There is a sense of real community amongst the men at the church that has been enhanced by meeting together and spending time with one another outside the church context. We encourage and support one another as we aim to be Men of God for our families at home, in our places of work and in our social lives.
